50 reported fatalities on Wisconsin roads in May

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has reported that 50 people lost their lives in traffic accidents on Wisconsin roads in May 2016.

WisDOT bureau of transportation safety director David Pabst said it’s “absolutely not safe” to drive too slowly in the “fast lane.” He added that the advent of apps on mobile devices has also added to the risk of accidents along roads and highways. “Texting while driving is an old term. The new term is smart-phoning. You can Facetime, Tweet, Snapchat. Anything you can do on your phone, can happen while you’re driving, and it’s dangerous.” Vehicle accident fatalities as of May 31, 2016 were higher by 10 from the same period last year and totaled 34 more than the five-year average.
