Interactive map of fatal crashes in Wisconsin created

The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Traffic Operation and Safety Lab, together with news website and with additional help from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, crafted an interactive map that gives its viewers details of deadly vehicular crashes within the state in the past 13 years, The Daily Cardinal reported on November 12.

The map’s users can browse by year, county, or factors involved in the accident, such as motorcycles, pedestrians, construction, alcohol, and speeding, among others. For instance, in Dane County this year, a total of 24 fatal accidents were listed on the map, all of which involved speeding. Over all, Dane County experienced 32 fatal vehicular accidents in 2013.

The map is intended to create awareness of dangerous circumstances that result in fatal accidents.
