Drop in Wisconsin traffic fatalities, rise in motorcycle deaths

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported that only 215 people have suffered fatal injuries in traffic accidents this year, indicating a marked decrease in vehicular deaths from last year’s data, the Door County Daily News reported on July 4.

Despite the decrease in overall traffic-related deaths, the deaths of motorcycle drivers so far counts five more than last year. According to state transportation department officials, over half of the motorcyclists who died were not wearing protective head gear at the time.

Driving safely in the presence of motorcyclists is critical because these drivers are more likely to sustain serious injuries in an accident.
