Wrongful death lawsuit results in $1.25 million verdict

The family of a man who was killed in a motorcycle accident will receive $1.25 million in the verdict.

In September 2010, a motorcyclist from Wichita Falls was traveling on Southwest Parkway when a distracted driver pulled out from a parking lot into his path. The motorcyclist crashed into the side of the vehicle, and succumbed to his injuries eight days later in a hospital bed. The day of the accident was the man’s 55th birthday.

The wrongful death lawsuit was filed against the female driver in December, claiming that she acted negligently while driving, and was distracted by her cellphone during the incident. The settlement will allow the victim’s two children to attend college, and will be paid by two separate insurance companies.
