SUV hits motorcycle head-on, three injured

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle collision in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood on Thursday.

A 31-year-old woman was driving westbound on North Avenue in an SUV when she crossed the center line of the road into oncoming traffic, hitting an eastbound motorcyclist head-on. The 34-year-old motorcyclist was then rear-ended by another car that had been driving behind the bike.

According to Milwaukee Police Sgt. Mike Edwards, the motorcyclist came to a point in the road where there is a blind curve, so it is unknown if he had any warning that the SUV had crossed the center line. It is not known if the motorcyclist, who was critically injured in the accident, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The three drivers involved in the collision were each taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after opened bottles of alcohol were found in her car.
