Nurses Rank Wisconsin High in Road Safety

Wisconsin is one of the top states in terms of enacting laws to keep roads safe, a national nurses group said Thursday.

According to the third biannual scorecard published by the Emergency Nurses Association, Wisconsin is one of nine states that scored 12 of 14 points on the safety report this year. Only two states, Oregon and Washington, scored a perfect 14. Tennessee was the only state to score a 13. Wisconsin lost two points on motorcycle safety because the state does not require helmets.

According to Diane Gurney, President of the Emergency Nurses Association, the report only examined laws on the books, not their enforcement. The United States Center for Disease Control estimates that someone is treated for accident injuries every 10 seconds in the U.S. “As emergency nurses we don’t have the luxury of blindly buying into the archetypal symbolism of the automobile as the vehicle to self-fulfillment and achievement.”

If you have been injured in a Wisconsin motorcycle accident, you may be entitled to compensation. For more information on victims’ rights in the wake of an accident, please contact the Wisconsin Motorcycle Accident Lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ®, by calling 800-242-2874.
