Motorcyclists more likely to be involved in deer collisions

Posted on Monday, November 14th, 2011 at 5:27 pm

Motorcyclists in the state of Wisconsin need to be aware of the risks that are associated with the winter season. Between October and December, large amounts of deer occupy Wisconsin. This mating season creates hazards for drivers and motorcyclists alike.

The deer population in Wisconsin is said to fall between 1.2 million and 1.6 million. Deer roam the areas looking for mates and impairing motorcyclists’ ability to see and operate their bikes. Last year there was only one motorcyclist death reported from a deer collision but numerous accidents took place.

The type of vehicle on the road is a huge factor involved when determining the number of crashes in the state. By operating a motorcycle you are more likely to be involved in an accident with a deer.

Over 300,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycles recalled

Posted on Monday, October 31st, 2011 at 7:56 pm

Difficulty with a switch on certain Harley-Davidson motorcycles is the reason behind a recall that affects over 300,000 bikes.

The faulty switch can lead to brake lights not working and may even cause the rear brakes to not work. The reason this switch can malfunction is due to the amount of heat it comes into contact with from the exhaust system. Harley-Davidson estimates that this glitch can cost them up to $12 million to repair.

Notifications to owners of these malfunctioning bikes will be sent via e-mail. A switch replacement kit will be installed for free at any official Harley-Davidson dealer.

Motorcycle malfunctions can be the reason for serious accidents and injuries. If you have been injured in an accident because of a malfunctioning motorcycle, please contact the Wisconsin motorcycle malfunction lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. by calling 800-242-2874 today.

Several motorcyclists don’t have legal license

Posted on Monday, October 24th, 2011 at 6:41 pm

AAA has recently reported that approximately 25 percent of motorcyclists do not have a proper license to operate a motorcycle. This is due to the bikers failing to take a basic rider course in order to have their license verified.

The rider course lasts three days long and consists of basic education regarding motorcycle safety. Before July of 2008, the three day course was not required to obtain a valid motorcycle license. The laws were updated that July and currently state that the basic rider course must be completed before a motorcyclist can legally operate a motorcycle.

The 25 percent of motorcyclists who have not passed this course are at a significantly greater risk to be involved in an accident, according to the study. The course costs between $200 and $400 and is highly regarded as producing better motorcyclists.

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle collision in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood on Thursday.
