Las Vegas man severely injured in motorcycle accident

Posted on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 at 6:28 pm

A motorcyclist in Las Vegas has been listed in critical condition after the motorcycle he was operating crashed Sunday night.

The 18-year-old was traveling on Grand Canyon Drive on his 2008 Honda CBR 1000 when he failed to slow down while nearing a stop sign. There was an SUV stopped at the stop sign that the motorcyclist did not notice when he slammed into the back of it. He was ejected from his motorcycle.

Police arrived at the scene and the teenager was taken to a local hospital in the area with severe injuries. The driver of the motor vehicle was unharmed in the accident. An investigation is still ongoing but it is believed that speed was a large factor in the accident.

Family starts brain injury center in Wisconsin

Posted on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 at 4:35 pm

A mother and daughter duo founded the Brain Injury Resource Center of Wisconsin after one suffered from a severe brain injury in a motorcycle accident.

When the daughter was 15-years-old she was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that left her partially paralyzed with brain damage. Through intensive rehabilitation she has learned to walk and move her limbs like before the accident. Her brain injury took her much longer to progress with due to her personality being completely altered.

This traumatic brain injury prompted her and her mother to start the center. The center distributes bags to families who are entering Wisconsin hospitals on the premises of a brain injury. The bags are equipped with items to help the families relieve some stress during the chaotic time. Mentors are also available through the center.
