Authorities suspect alcohol was a factor in a fatal Wisconsin motorcycle crash last Thursday.
According to officials with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, 46 year-old Jefferey L. Skarda, of Soldiers Grove, was traveling south on Highway 61 near Day Creek Road shortly before 8:00 p.m. last Thursday when the accident occurred. Police say a northbound vehicle driven by 22 year-old Rebecca M. Kulas, of Viroqua, crossed into the southbound lane and collided with Skarda’s motorcycle.
“The alcohol we suspect would be in the Kulas vehicle,” Crawford County Sheriff Jerry Moran said. “I want to be clear it’s not on the part of [Skarda].”
Kulas was charged friday with operating while intoxicated and fourth offense operating while suspended, police say.
A reconstruction of the crash was performed by the state patrol. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation of the crash.
